The Upper Hutt Excellence in Business Awards dinner proved that their business community is a hive of activity. A relatively small, industrious team did a splendid job of organising this fun, glittery and professional event.

So what made it so great? Where do I start – the food was delicious and the service great, the venue looked amazing with stylish table settings and ‘Oscar night’ lighting effects. Shaun Preston really can sing (not to mention play the piano) and Nick Tansley is a colourful MC. But at the end of the evening the thing that really stood out and impressed us most was the people.  

A wide range of business people and ventures were represented – from hairdressers to schools to flooring to barristers to restaurants – and many others. Winners or not – all 28 nominees seemed thrilled to be recognised for their hard work and progress.

The awards were all about celebrating business success over the last year including growth, productivity and contribution to the Upper Hutt profile.
